Famous Mathematician Report

The study of mathematics breeds hundreds of influential mathematicians who have shaped our world as we know it.  These genius minds are responsible for discovering and molding equations, numbers and proofs to form what we know and learn about in every math class in the world.

For this assignment, create a report on one of these famous mathematicians.  Research and discover what they are responsible for contributing to the world of mathematics and present it as a report to Mr. Eckersley before the end of the marking period.

Specific rules are as follows:

  • The report must be at least two pages long (double spaced).

  • The report must be typed up with a title, name and marking period on it.

  • The report must feature a famous mathematician, (living or dead), who has contributed a great deal to the world of mathematics.

  • Please include a list of references on the back page of the report indicating where your information came from.

  • Plagiarism, (taking information from a website word-for-word), is strictly prohibited and will result in no points awarded.

  • Extra credit will be offered up to 20 points that may be distributed amongst any test, quiz, lab, class work or homework grade and will be dispersed per the student's wishes.

  • The more informative, interesting and the longer the report is, the more extra credit will be given.  All extra credit points will be determined solely by Mr. Eckersley.
